KANSAS — 4 decades ago, a team of Lakota High College college students banded together to obtain methods to improved their faculty and their local community. With the assist of faculty advice counselor Nancy Slotterbeck, the Women’s Management Council was born.
The group is a one of a kind, grassroots firm that is building upcoming female leaders by empowering them with the equipment to be benevolent currently.
This fall, the group centered on battling bullying by joining in the nationwide #HATNOTHATE anti-bullying marketing campaign. The Lakota Women’s Leadership Council is the only Midwest representative of the initiative in the U.S. The #HATNOTHATE marketing campaign raises awareness of the gravity of bullying and encourages a message of kindness by distributing no cost handmade, blue hats to colleges across the region. The hats are hand-knitted or crocheted by men and women from all around the planet.
“The hats are blue for the reason that blue is the colour of anti-bullying, the color of peace,” Slotterbeck mentioned.
Faculty turns into a sea of blue for a working day
On Oct. 29, the pupils discussed the challenge with the university through a video presentation and then distributed above 1,200 hats to all students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and all personnel. On Nov. 1, the school’s no-hat plan was temporarily suspended so the learners could dress in their hats in aid of the anti-bullying information.
